Mosquito Select #2 YSBA Consolation Semi Finalists!
2014-08-21
Congratulations to the Mosquito Select #2 Team, YSBA Consolation Semi Finalists!
The Newmarket Select Mosquito Team#2 went to the YSBA Playoffs to play the best games they could, and they certainly did that.
The weekend started on Friday night playing Barrie, which the team ended up winning with a score of 11-7. Our next game Saturday morning was a loss for the team against Richmond Hill, with the rain coming down pretty hard in the last inning. The boys only lost by one, 8-7 so a tough loss for them. With the rain not stopping for the rest of the day,Saturday afternoon games were pushed to Sunday.
Sunday started off with a win against Aurora, with a score of 12-11. The boys battled hard, as they knew they had to win this game. Now, we had to battle Markham in the afternoon to have a chance for the finals. I don't think they ever expected to win this game, and win they did with a score of 7-2. You would have thought they won the World Series! With now 3 teams leading with a 3-1 win/loss, there was a draw for the bye. Richmond Hill wins the draw, leaving us to play Markham again. At 6:30 PM we played our final game and unfortunately the boys battled as hard as they could, but lost with a score of 15-8.
What an incredible weekend, with the boys playing amazing baseball. A brand new team this year, they certainly showed they could hold their own in this division. They were thrilled to have made it this far, and so were all of us, the coaches and parents.
