Brady receiving his 2015 OBA Rep Pitcher of the Year Award from OBA Director Dirk Drieberg
Congratulations to Brady Wagenhoffer of the 2015 Newmarket Peewee AAA Hawks for being selected as the Ontario Baseball Association's Fergie Jenkins Award winner as 2015 Rep Pitcher of the Year.
At the Ontario Baseball Association's Annual General Meeting held in Sault Ste. Marie on the weekend of Nov. 21-22, the Newmarket Hawks' own Brady Wagenhoffer was honoured with the Fergie Jenkins Award as the top rep pitcher in Ontario in 2015.
Brady was nominated for the Fergie Jenkie Award by the YSBA after they selected Brady as the YSBA's 2015 Rep Pitcher of the Year at their annual meeting earlier in the fall.
As member of the Peewee AAA Hawks team, Brady was the team’s starting pitcher in several key tournament games and recorded big wins against top teams including North York, Brampton, Mississauga North, Etobicoke, and London. The London game was especially impressive as it was a complete game (7 inning) shutout in the Baseball Ontario Elimnations tourament semi-finals. The Hawks tournament record was 29-9-1; Brady's pitching record in tournament games was 10-1 with two saves.
The Peewee AAA Hawks showed to be a complete team this past season in winning the Cambridge Nokona AAA World Series, the Baseball Ontario Eliminations Tournament (and representing Ontario at the Baseball Canada 13U National Championships where they finished 5th), and the 59th Annual CNE Lions Tournament. In addition, the team reached the semi-finals of the Darien Lake and Brampton tournaments, and they were undefeated in the Vaughan tournament before it was rained out.
Among other pitching highlights for Brady this season was his game MVP for his starting pitching performance vs. Team Atlantic at the Nationals as well as his earning of the Sam Shefsky/Blue Jays Trophy as the top pitcher at the prestigeous CNE tournament.
Amazingly, this is the second time Brady was selected as the recipent of the Fergie Jenkins Award; he also won the award in 2012 as a member of the Newmarket Mosquito AA Hawks.
Congratulations to Brady for this achievement! His coaches, teammates, and family are very proud of him.
