Upper Canada Signs Rookie Hawks Win Third Tournament!
2010-08-05
Congratulations to the Upper Canada Signs Rookie Hawks!
Rookie Hawks #1 team is quite deserving of some recognition after winning their 3rd straight tournament this past weekend, and bringing their overall record this season to 34-2.
They are also the first ever Rookieball team in Newmarket to be classified as AAA by the OBA and are #1 amongst 180 York Simcoe teams (across all age groups) in runs-against, with only 32 runs given up over 18 games, with 8 shutouts along the way...an absolutely amazing feat for a Rookieball Team, when the scores are in the double-digits on a regular basis...they have also scored over 250 runs to go along with their unbelievable defense, averaging close to 15 runs per game (many of which have been less than 5 innings in length due to the 'mercy' rule).
After the final regular season home game the Rookie #1 Hawks are now 18-1 in YSBA league play (35-2 overall) after posting their 9th shutout of the season with a 14-0 victory over the Barrie AAA Red Sox. This represented the team's third straight shutout, and fifth in their last six games, with only 3 runs allowed in July/August.
