The 33rd Annual Mosquito Silver Bat Tournament was held on August 1,2,3 at the Ray Twinney complex and Fairgrounds diamonds. Two of the best Major Mosquito teams in Ontario squared off in the final Championship game. Behind some very timely hitting, the Whitby Chiefs beat the North York Blues 11-6 in a very exciting game. Whitby advanced to the finals by handling Oshawa in their semi-final matchup while North York beat Etobicoke to advance. The Newmarket Hawks advanced to the quarter final round but ran into a very strong North York team. All in all, the tournament was a great success again this year. Newmarket Game MVP’s were Jesse, Neil and Riley.
One of the most exciting games was on Sunday, an improptu game between the Newmarket umpires, players and siblings!
