2020 Season Update - Teams are back on the diamonds!
YSBA has cancelled all competitive games but Newmarket Baseball Players are back on the diamonds for practices and exhibition games!

As previously announced, YSBA has cancelled the competitive season , but the door was left open to hold practices subject to Provincial, Municipal, OBA, YSBA and NBA guidelines.

(1) Diamonds / Permits - The NBA is actively working with the Town to secure permits for specific diamonds and batting cages. We understand that some players are anxious to get out on the field. We are trying to expedite the process, but do ask for everyone's patience. Once we are able to secure permits, we will begin scheduling times.
(2) Insurance / Waivers - As per Ontario Baseball Association (OBA) every participant must sign a waiver. This includes coaches, umpires, players. There is a parental waiver for players under 18. I have attached copies of the waiver for adults and for participants under 18 years of age. It will be the responsibility of each coach to collect the waivers and submit to Newmarket Baseball. I have also attached a copy of the Declaration of Compliance as well.
(3) Participation - All practices and gatherings are optional. No player, parent or coach should feel pressured into participating if they feel that their safety or that of their child is at risk. Non-participation should not be viewed negatively. As per the OBA return to play protocols, event attendance must be taken and submitted to NBA within 24 hours of each event. The head coach/manager will be submitting attendance records.
(4) Game Play / Scrimmages - Depending on when regions are opened to Stage 3, and assuming that game play will be allowed, the NBA, YSBA and OBA are looking at the possibility of exhibition games. This will be a topic for upcoming meetings for each level. These might be at the NBA level (Major vs Minor year, AA vs A, A vs Select, etc.) or between associations (i.e. vs Aurora, Richmond Hill, etc.). There may still be a possibility of some form of OBA finals and/or fall ball games.
(5) Refunds - We are still trying to reconcile the costs incurred to date to calculate both player and team refunds. The amount of the player refunds will differ between Rep/Select and Elite due to the difference in the commitment fees paid. Once player and team amounts are finalised, notifications will go out to players and teams.
