Umpire Certification Instructions
INTERESTED IN BEING AN UMPIRE??
If you are interested in becoming an umpire for Newmarket Baseball Association please be sure to read all the information in the links below. If you still require additional information please contact Carolyn Achtermeier at scheduler@newmarketbaseball.com
All certification is managed through the Baseball Ontario ONDeck application, available both as a mobile app and through a computer web browser.

NEW AND RETURNING UMPIRES
There is an online component as well as an in person component to register for. The online component is free of charge. The in person component is $25 for Level 1 Umpires and $45 for Level 2 Umpires.
***Completion of BOTH the online and in-person components is required for certification.
Newmarket Baseball will be hosting an in person clinic on April 9th and April 11th. All clinics will be posted on the Baseball Ontario Website. You do not have to take the clinic in Newmarket, there will be other locations and dates to choose from.
You must register on the OBA OnDeck site for the clinic you want to take and then follow the link in the confirmation email to pay for the clinic on the Newmarket Baseball website.
***If you take a clinic at another location but want to have assignments in Newmarket, you must email Carolyn Achtermeier so she can add you to the database and assign you jobs. If you are not updated in the database, you will not get any jobs assigned to you!! Email Carolyn at earthworksstudio@yahoo.ca
Introductory Umpire Clinic for 7U/9U - Manadatory for all 12 and 13 year old New Umpires
All new umpires who are 12 and 13 year old are required to also take the 7U/9U Introductory Clinic. This is in additional the clinic and the online portion. This clinic is run by our Umpire-in-Chief, Doug Yarenko and will give new umpires an opportunity to practice at a live game before the season starts. The date and time for this clinic will be emailed to all the new umpires when the date is set (usually early May!)
